Too much reality…

In the past week I’ve seen advertisements for at least three movies related to current reality.

First is the United 93 movie about the third plane of Sept. 11, 2001. This one did not strike the World Trade buildings. This movie is the story of what happened on the plane. Taken from calls by passengers of the plane, the tower logs from the communications with the pilot and some good Hollywood writing. Now my issue with this is sure we all should honor the memory of these fine people. It was a damn shame they had to die that infamous day. But do we have to have a movie show us all how very tragic this was. And as you can image. The Hollywood crew will embellish and stress the point of the highjack for the purpose of drama. It’s like the movies put out that are based some thread of truth. For the most part the filler content is made up to add dramatic effect.

Second is a made to TV movie based on the threat of the ‘bird’ flu hitting the US. Anyone who reads this blog knows I’m not a fan of the folks that predict the end of the world as we know it because the temperature has risen a degree thee last 100 year. Again there is a good chance the bird flu will hit the US just like mad cow. But for this movie to come out and just panic everyone does not help. It really reminds me of the AIDS scare from the early 1980s. There was so much uncertainty all propagated by the media. This is just a different spin.

Third, Sondra and I were flipping channels lest night. She stopped on MTV. There was a show on called ‘My Super Sweet Sixteen’. Now this is a reality show they run. To me it’s much like another show, Real World, where there is not much real about it! In almost every scene the soon to be 15-16 year old daughter is shown being a total drama queen. She rants because she want to have her way about something. Then in another scene she’s ranting because something happened, something she can’t control, and it makes her upset. Well boo f*%$#cking who cares! My issue with this show is it really teachers today’s kids how to act and how to just take over the lives of their parents. Geez.
